question_answer

How and where did the idea/concept/design take place?

The concept for Cafe Emporos kind of manifested itself one evening. Frustrated with the challenges of starting a brick and mortar took me back to Korea where I did many things with very little. This is when, "Make the world your cafe" was born. I had never had the opportunity to open a small shop because I moved around so often. That is when I realized a cafe can be anywhere playing good music, brewing delicious coffee for yourself and some friends and anywhere you find happiness can be your cafe.

question_answer

There are a number of brewing techniques in the coffee world today -- including a french press, pour over coffee (Hario V60 filter/pour over station) and a few others. What makes using a hand drip coffee satchel better than the other devices?

It is about convenience for the filters. Those who travel and are coffee connoisseurs or simply enjoy coffee understand that carrying a grinder, filter and scale in a backpack... then having to take the items out, grind the coffee, measuring out the proper grams is a bit of a royal pain at most times. However, the hand drip satchels give those who don't have the space/experience/time a simple resolution brewing a fresh cup of coffee with much ease and convenience without sacrificing quality - while keeping the ritual of making coffee intact.

Essentially, the filter/proper amount of coffee grounds are ready to go once you apply the satchel to the coffee mug. All you have to do is add hot water (200-202 degrees) and your coffee is ready within a few minutes. Fresh. Easy. Simplified.
question_answer

How fresh is the coffee? Does it come ground or whole bean?

The coffee arrives freshly roasted weekly. The coffee comes ground, sealed in the individual coffee satchels.
question_answer

What exactly is hand drip coffee?

Upon returning to America, Ruben noticed the name differences of coffee drinks between America and Asia. What is called "Pour Over" in the States is called "Hand Drip" in Korea and Japan. Personally, he felt the name hand drip coffee conveys to the consumer the time and attention it takes to brew a fresh cup of coffee.
